Do you enjoy the convenience of disposable paper plates and at the same time lament the garbage they create? Two solutions: (1) Plain flimsy paper plates (the cheap ones) that are un-coated can be composted. Train your family to tear their used paper plate in pieces before tossing it in the compost pail. Pick up a stack of wicker plate “baskets” at a thrift store or yard sale to place beneath paper plates to reinforce them and give them structure so they don’t create unnecessary spills. (2) Buy Corelle winter white luncheon plates. Train your family to wash, dry, and put away their own plate on pizza night. Corelle plates are lightweight and store compactly.
